NASA spacecraft, OSIRIS-REX is on a journey to the near-Earth asteroid, Bennu. To get there, it took a detour past Earth's southern hemisphere for a gravity assist that would slingshot the spacecraft to the asteroid. It will reach Bennu in 2018.
