'We could fight election in 6 MONTHS' Labour predicts new vote over Tory's Brexit disarray
A SNAP election could be called in just six months as the Tories jostle to oust Theresa May, according to a political insider.
The joint national campaign and election coordinator said that things are so serious that Labour is shoring up its MPs to ensure they’re ready.Labour is seeking candidates for around 75 marginal seats in England. And they have started an election fund using a cash injection from its 600,000 party members.In a bid to pick up votes from people who want to switch from the Conservative Party to Labour, the Labour MPs will tour Tory areas.The party has also lined up votes on pensions and tuition fees to lure Tory rebels to become turncoats. Mr Corbyn used an eve-of-conference rally to say Labour must be prepared to form a government “whenever the next election is called” – indicating that he does not expect Mrs May’s administration to last until 2022.Labour’s conference in Brighton begins today.Mr Corbyn told supporters that June’s election, which saw his party make gains and deprive the Tories of a Commons majority, showed a “thirst for real change across Britain”.He said: “We now have the chance to transform our country. To do that we must use our strength inside and outside Parliament to challenge the Conservatives at every step, and prepare to form a government whenever the next election is called.” Mr Gwynne, the MP for Denton and Reddish, said that Labour MPs are enjoying the fighting between the Conservative politicians. He said: “It’s quite clear that the Tories are in complete disarray over the issue of Europe.”“What David Cameron had successfully managed to do was paper over the cracks that had been there since the Nineties. “What we’re seeing now is a re-emergence of those gaping wounds. You’ve got two sides that mentally cannot reconcile themselves.”“The political problem is that whatever they come back with from Brussels there is a group of Tory MPs for whom it’s too hard and a similar group who will see it as a complete capitulation to the EU.” . 00FastNews.
