The 138 KM Bangalore - Mysore Broad Gauge line which was initially a Single line section seems to be reaching completion quickly as the Doubling Project has now attained upto 95% progress. The only stretch that remains single as of now is the Srirangapatnam Railway station between Pandavpura and Nagenahalli where the Emperor Tipu Sultans Armour needs to be shifted for availability of land for laying tracks.\r
\r
The doubling of this line started a decade back and progressed at a snails pace, the doubling took place in bits and patches due to land acquisition problems and lack of interest shown by the Railways, which often lead the work to come to a stand still. In the past 3 years the Doubling project has gained some immense pressure and the work since then has been progressing pretty fast and simultaneously the section is also getting electrified to 25 KV trion to operate Electric Locomotives in the coming years.\r

On 13th November new, the Commission of Railway Safety CRS , conducted a High Speed inspection on the newly laid line parallel to the existing single line between Nagenahalli -Pandavpura and Byadarahalli - Yeliyur . The trails have been successfully completed and Trains are expected to start running on the newly doubled line soon. Now trains will only face a crossing issue at Byadarahalli -Srirangapatnam-Nagenahalli stretch and the rest of the section is Double line. \r
