The first major UK retrospective of the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat opens to the public at the Barbican Gallery on Thursday, along with what organisers call an "unofficial collaboration" by the street artist Banksy on a nearby wall which appears to pay homage to Basquiat, himself a street art pioneer.
