10 - Not your average fairytale… \r
This legendary sea monster takes us back to 1531. Called the Bishop-Fish, it was said to be hooked off the coast of Poland. It was also said that one was caught during the 13th century. They say it was taken to the king and asked to be set free. When it was released, it crossed its chest and dove back into the water. Researchers believe it be inspired by the Giant squid, with a head that is shaped like a bishops hat. \r

9 - Now give me some fin… \r
Huge is the one word that aptly refers to the Aspidochelene – a fabled sea creature described as massive sea turtle with large spines protruding from its back. Sailors are said to mistake its huge back as an island, and then when they sail to the island – the giant turtle is said to drown all the sailors! Legend says it emits a sweet smell, luring the fish closer so that he can devour it. \r

8 - Bearer of good news… \r
We head to Japan where this mythical sea creature – Amabie appeared during the Edo Era. It was believed that if Amabie appeared, then that person would reap a great harvest. One story says that she spoke to the city administrator, and prophesized good crops and good health to anyone who was ill. \r

7 - The Luck of the Irish… \r
This time its not so great, because this creepy looking river monster is said to hail from Ireland. Called the Dobhar-Chu, its a mix of dog, beaver and otter. They are aggressive towards dogs and humans and attack in groups. The first reported sighting was in 1684, and as someone reported seeing one in 2003! Strangely there is a gravestone from the 17th century stating that a woman was killed by one of these guys! \r

6 - Saddle-Up… \r
The Scottish Highlands is our next stop, where you will learn about a vicious spirit known as a Each-Uisage. This water dwelling spirit is shape-shifting, either taking the form of a horse or a good-looking man. The spirit encourages people to ride it, and you will be fine as long as youre away from water…. But when the spirit senses any water, it binds the rider to itself, takes him to the deepest part of the water and eats him up, leaving nothing but the liver. \r

5 - If its a show you want… \r
1842, Dr. J. Griffin told the press that he had captured a mermaid near the Fiji Islands. He went on to release drawings of beautiful maidens, ready to seduce anyone who came near to them. The public refused to believe him until he provided proof. So he confirmed that he would display his mermaid for 1 week only. The crowds were huge, and when they finally saw what was on offer – they were disgusted! Their hopes of seeing a mermaid forever dashed, when he presented to them the ugliest combination of monkey and fish. The original burnt in a fire but many replicas have since been made. \r

This couldnt be more true if you head about Umibozu, a large sea creature that the Japanese sailors feared. They believed he appeared just after a calm sea and excellent weather. He would emerge from the depths, and destroy any ship in its path. He was described as having a human form, black skin and a gigantic head with huge eyes. \r

3 - O Canada… \r
Ogopogo was first spotted in the 19th century in British Columbia, Canada. Described as being 40-50 feet long, the lake monster resembles a sea serpent. The serpent has been categorized as a “many hump” variety, and there are still many people who believe it to be real. However, since there is no clear evidence – just like the Nessie – we will never really know. \r

2 - A sound theory… \r
There are many stories floating around, stating that the US Government are aware of underwater platforms that were allegedly built and used by amphibious alien gods. Apparently there is a huge underwater base off the Gulf of California, which stretches over 76 miles. UFO sleuths are convinced its an alien discovery of note, but other believe there is nothing unnatural about it – but who knows – perhaps alien discoveries under the ocean will be the next big thing!\r

1 – Underwater Harem… \r
This is an Amazon Legend, which tells the story of the Yacuruna – water dwelling creatures that closely resemble humans, although they are very hairy and their heads are facing backwards. The dwell in stunning underwater cities, and they build gorgeous palaces. Its been said that they would abduct women and take them as their brides, and the women would eventually morph into a Yacuruna.
