Could Thailand’s stray dogs go from pest to patrols?
A pilot program is outfitting them with camera-equipped "smart vests." The vests activate when the dog barks aggressively, after sensing danger or a disturbance. Then, a notification is sent to app-enable local users, who can then watch a live video feed of the event.
With shelters in Thailand overwhelmed, thousands of stray dogs roam the nation's streets. Many stay on the streets and are often abused or even trafficked into dog meat markets.
Animal rights groups say projects like this prove strays can help society, instead of just being a burden.
