In this video we compare the weight of Litelok Gold against other bike locks on a balance scale. Which is lighter? Litelok Gold! It weighs just 1.1 Kg (2.4 lbs), which is much, much lighter than comparable bike locks of the same security rating. In fact, Litelok Gold is the lightest, flexible bike lock to have achieved Sold Secure Bicycle Gold from independent testers Sold Secure. However the weight alone does not give you the full picture. We have created a new metric called the Lock Mass Index (LMI), which is the weight of the lock (in kilograms) divided by the length of the lock (or circumference) in metres. The lower the LMI rating, the better, for a given security rating. Litelok Gold is a revolutionary new bike lock that’s light, flexible and super secure. Invented by Prof. Neil Barron, an industrial designer with a background in Aeronautics and Astronautics. It was after having multiple bikes stolen in London that Neil came up with the lightweight bike lock idea. He was fed up with carrying around super heavy bike locks so Neil and his team created a new composite material called Boaflexicore. This new composite is made of layers of tough but light materials, each layer offering protection, meaning Litelok Gold can withstand repeated attack.
