ROGER FEDERER won through to the quarter-finals of the US Open after seeing off Philipp Kohlschreiber with a place in the US Open 2017 quarter-finals at stake.Federer had a staggeringly dominant head-to-head record against Kohlschreiber, having won every single one of their 11 senior encounters, a run in which the German has won just three sets.
The Swiss great has reached yet another Grand Slam quarter-final after the build-up to the tournament was dominated by his dodgy back.

12.45am: Don't worry folks, Federer is on court! Del Potro prevailed in a five-set thriller. It's 3-3 in the first set and Kohlschreiber is pushing him hard. We could be in for a hum dinger!
12.30am: Please Federer fans, don't go anywhere! Del Potro has just won the tie-break to take his match against Thiem to a decider. We're deep into overtime, but that's the joy of the US Open. Now might be the time to make a cup of coffee because you could be in for a late night!
12.15pm: And still Thiem v Del Potro goes on. Del Potro will be serving for the third time to stay in the match. The Argentine looks a bit exhausted!
12.10pm: We're still waiting for Federer to get onto court.
Hopefully it won't be too much longer as Dominic Thiem will be hoping to serve it out against Juan Martin Del Potro.
11.45pm: The best news of the night so far is we are all but guaranteed to start on time. Federer's last much did not see him get out on court until after 9pm New York time, or 2am in the UK, thanks to an overrunning day session.
However, Karolina Pliskova, Rafael Nadal and CoCo Vandeweghe all obliged with straight sets wins on Arthur Ashe earlier today meaning the Swiss and his German opponent will be on court at exactly 7pm local, in about 15 minutes' time.
