England 2 - Slovakia 1: Marcus Rashford makes amends with stunning Wembley winner
MARCUS RASHFORD made up for a glaring early error to fire England to victory in their last big World Cup qualifying test against Slovakia.
Rashford scored midway through the second half to make amends for gifting Slovakia the leas three minutes in.
The Manchester United star tried to nutmeg Stanislav Lobotka in his own half, but the Slovakia midfielder nipped in, exchanged a one-two with Adam Nemec and buried his chance.
Eric Dier levelled for England before the break - the Tottenham anchor latching onto a smart Rashford corner to clip past the near post.
And provider then turned scorer as Rashford dipped home the winner when given too much time on the edge of the area.
The result means England sit five points ahead of second-place Slovakia in qualifying Group F.
And Scotland’s victory over Malta tonight sees Gordon Strachan’s side narrow the gap on Slovakia to just one point with two games remaining.
