The CEO of Goldman Sachs appears to have once again taken to Twitter to criticize President Trump, on the day millions witnessed the Great American Eclipse.
Lloyd Blankfein tweeted Monday, “Wish the moon wasn't the only thing casting a shadow across the country. We got through one, we'll get through the other. #SolarEclipse2017.”
However, it is unclear what exactly he was referring to, and a Goldman Sachs representative did not provide additional details, commenting to CNBC that the “tweet speaks for itself.”
The CEO has been noted in the past for using his social media account to call Trump out on various issues.
For instance, his very first tweet, posted June 1, blasted the president for announcing his decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord, calling it “a setback for the environment and for the U.S.'s leadership position in the world.”
Blankfein has since followed that up with critical messages about infrastructure in the U.S. and Trump’s divisive reaction to the recent violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The financial executive told CNBC’s Jim Cramer in June that he began tweeting to give the public a better idea of what Goldman Sachs does.
Blankfein went on to explain his parameters for a tweet, saying, “Either it's something that is kind of in our wheelhouse of expertise, like [a] US government default….[Or] The other thing I'll comment on is when things really affect the ability of our people to be who they are and to do their job and to be effective as professionals [such as]...LGBT, the immigrant ban…”
