Farmers prepare the lands during rainy season for paddy transplantation. But in Vajrakarur village of Anantapur, people search for diamonds in paddy fields. At least 30 to 40 diamonds would be found every year by hunters.

Hundreds of people not only from Andhra Pradesh, but also from Karnataka and Maharashtra come to Venkatampalli and Peruru mandals in search of diamonds during July to September. They form into teams and hunt for diamonds in farm lands soon after the rain falls. As usual, this year too, hunters have descended to test their fortunes.
