The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reportedly made new advances against Islamic State (IS) in Raqqa on August 14, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The SDF reportedly captured two neighborhoods in the old city, and were in control of over half of the city, the Observatory reported.
The prominent activist network Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently said that SDF captured parts of Mansour Street in north Raqqa. The SDF also reportedly advanced into Badu neighborhood from the east, Baidaa Garden from the north and Basil Street from the west, local activist media reported.
