Hundreds of thousands of people took to the roads of Mumbai on Wednesday, August 9, in the 58th protest organized by the Marathi Kranti Morcha group.
This footage shows marchers along Mumbai’s JJ Flyover.
The Marathi Kranti Morcha group represents people from India’s Maratha caste, which is predominantly made up of farmers. Decreasing agriculture profits and a lack of jobs and education opportunities have led to the group’s 57 prior protests. Wednesday’s march also saw demonstrators demanding justice for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Maratha girl in July of last year, according to the Hindustan Times and the Times of India.
