A suspected waterspout churned over Lake Erie before a severe thunderstorm swept ashore into Buffalo, New York, on Friday, August 4. The National Weather Service had yet to confirm the waterspout, according to a news report.
Officials said the damage had been from straight-line winds rather than a tornado, so they could not confirm the waterspout yet, the report said.
The storm knocked down trees and power lines once it came ashore in Buffalo.
