Smoke from wildfires raging in British Columbia covered Washington state’s Puget Sound with a blanket of smoke on August 2.

The Seattle Times reported that the lasting layer of smoke is due to a heatwave in Washington and Oregon this week. The air quality is between moderate and unhealthy levels of air pollution, according to the Washington Department of Ecology.
