Explosives blasted the area near the 1st Armoured Division Base in Sanaa on the morning of July 28, the day after Saudi Arabia said a Houthi missile was shot down over its territory.

The Houthi missile was shot down in Taif province, 69 kilometers from Mecca, said the Saudi air force, claiming that the missile was launched toward Mecca to disrupt the Hajj season.

Houthi spokespeople said that the missile’s target was the King Fahd airbase, more than 1,000 kilometers from Mecca, according to Yemen news agency Saba.

Regular bombing raids have hit Sanaa since a Saudi-led coalition intervened in the country in 2015 to restore President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to power after he was ousted from by the Houthis. More than 10,000 people have been killed in the conflict, according to Reuters. Credit: Facebook/Osama Ali Albarout via Storyful
