On 30 July, Venezuela will have its Constitutional Assembly election  for an assembly that will draft the country's new constitution.According to Maduro, the assembly will be created by the people rather than politicians and is necessary for peace in Venezuela, after many months of protests and chaos. But opponents fear the new assembly will stay after it has drafted a new constitution and have overreaching power.Julio Borges, the leader of the opposition-controlled parliament, called the idea a "scam" by Maduro to remain in power and told Venezuelans to rebel. There is a growing world condemnation of Maduro's push for a new assembly, but despite national and international opposition, Maduro vowed the election will still happen.
