The Japanese ambassador to Iraq, Fumio Iwai, has sent a message congratulating Iraqis on their forces’ victory over Islamic State in Mosul.

The ambassador honored those who sacrificed themselves to liberate the Iraqi city, and remembered civilians who experienced “brutal persecution”.
