The navies for India, the US & Japan kicked off trilateral ‘Malabar 2017’ maritime exercises in the Bay of Bengal on Monday. Malabar is a week-long show of maritime exercises, focusing on both on-shore activities in Chennai and also operational activities at sea, supposedly working to develop mutual confidence and strengthen security operations in the Indo-pacific region.
