Vettah is a psychological thriller, directed by Rajesh Pillai. The movie stars Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban, and Indrajith in the lead roles. The movie is penned by Arunlal Ramachandran and produced by Rajesh Pillai, himself.
Along with her subordinate, ACP Sailex Abraham IPS, Sreebala investigates the missing case of actress Uma (Sanusha). Melvin (Kunchacko Boban) is the prime suspect in the case. Sreebala and Sailex's struggle to complete the investigation and how it affects their personal life forms the crux of the plot. Cast And Performances Kunchacko Boban has delivered one the best performances in his career as Melvin. The actor has perfectly conveyed the various emotional layers of the character, at ease. Manju Warrier, who played a cop for the first time, has presented her character well; but definitely lacks her old charm. Indrajith is at his usual best as a tough cop, but hasn't had much to perform. The rest of the star cast, including Kadhal Sandhya, Baby Akshara, Sanusha, Vijayaraghavan, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Prem Prakash, Kottayam Nazir, Deepak Parambol, Rony David Raj etc are good in their respective roles. Script And Direction Arunlal Ramachandran scores by giving a tightly packed script and sharp dialogues. But the slow pace of the movie slightly affects the crispiness of the second half. Rajesh Pillai makes a grand comeback, after the cold performance of Mili. The director has brilliantly crafted the perfectly written script with complete control, thus making the movie, an edge of the seat thriller. Technical Aspects Anishlal's brilliant visualization has created an absolutely glorious backdrop for the mystery-bound thriller. Abhilash Ramachandran's editing is up to the mark. Music Shaan Rahman's songs completely sink in with the crispy, thrilling mood of the movie. The extraordinary background score deserves a special applause. Verdict A well-crafted, unique psychological thriller, with some exceptional performances.
