Long term use of hand sanitizer can be dangerous, according to a new study. In a statement published in the Environmental Health Perspectives journal, scientists urged the restriction of two main chemicals: triclosan and triclocarba. Nearly 200 scientists from 29 different countries listed the chemicals as dangerous. Trade groups warned that banning the sanitizing gels could lead to an increase in infection and disease.
