President Trump’s son Eric Trump has lashed out at a CNN reporter for claiming that the administration showed bias at a recent press briefing, reports The Hill.
The exchange began when the network’s Senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta tweeted Tuesday, “Does this feel like America? Where the White House takes [questions] from conservatives, then openly trashes the news media in the briefing room.”
Soon after, Eric responded to the message directly by writing, “Does it feel like America where one of the networks (@CNN) gives debate questions to their preferred candidate ahead of time?”
He was referring to a campaign controversy that erupted when emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee, or DNC, showed that CNN’s Donna Brazile, who would eventually become interim party chair, leaked debate questions to Hillary Clinton’s campaign ahead of time.
Eric's sharp rebuke of CNN comes as the network’s relationship with the Trump administration grows increasingly tense.
Earlier this month, Acosta called White House press secretary Sean Spicer “kind of useless” in the wake of a press briefing where no video or audio was allowed.
The reporter also blamed the administration for “stonewalling the news media.”
