Google won't be snooping around in your emails anymore

Last week, Google announced in a blog post that it would not longer scan user emails to target them with personalized ads. Google faced criticism over the years for invading and exploiting the privacy of its users. A UK-based privacy group named Privacy International attempted to intervene by blocking the scans but failed to enlist the help the help of the country's data privacy regulator. Microsoft even ran 'Gmail Man' adverts to raise awareness about Google's snooping around. Now, the firm is changing its platform's privacy measures to better fit a business edition of the service. Users can opt out of seeing personalized ad by simply accessing their account settings. Google Chief Executive Renate Samson explained the change: "Whilst tech companies should see this as an opportunity to halt other intrusive snooping for advertising purposes, citizens equally should take greater care not to sign up to services which routinely share your personal information with third parties for the purposes of advertising or marketing."
