Jay Z is changing his name. To… get this… JAY-Z.

Let us explain.

The rap star now wants everyone to know him as JAY-Z… which means every letter must be capitalized and the hyphen between the Y and the Z is back.

Yep, that’s the world we’re living in.

Born Shawn Carter, he had been known at Jay-Z since his earliest songs in the late 80’s… claiming it was a nod to his rap mentor Jaz-O.

In 2013 he dropped the hyphen.

And in recent promo material for his upcoming album, his name was JAY:Z with a colon in lieu of a hyphen.

But his Twitter handle is still Mr. Carter…

And we still have to consider that he just became a father again… so some people are gonna call him daddy.

Yep, it sounds like it’s gonna be hard to keep up with.
