Servicemen from the Central Military District took part in military exercises using the new BTR-82A Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) in tough conditions at the 201 military base near Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The drills took place at a driving range, designed to contain a large variety of obstacles, as well as different types of surfaces, imitating mountain roads, deserts, rocky paths with sharp turns and steep slopes. One of the most difficult parts was a five-kilometre (3.1 mile) dusty road, which is not only challenging for drivers, but can also cause damage to the vehicle’s engine if it is not equipped with an effective filtering system.
