Hundreds of protesters gathered in Herrman Park in Houston, Texas, on June 10, in response to rumors on Facebook that there was an effort to get a statue of Sam Houston removed from the park.

The Houston Press said the rumors were started by an “alt-right troll group,” saying several left-wing groups would demonstrate before the statue on June 10 in order to get it removed.

Sam Houston was the first president of the republic of Texas, and is known for bringing Texas into the United States.
