A microburst wind event formed over Austin, Texas, on June 5, and Victor Ituarte captured the moment it formed.

Ituarte said he initially wanted to take photos of the large clouds when he noticed a large patch of blue sky between two sections of rain and immediately flicked on his camera and switched over to video to capture the timelapse.

Ituarte called the moment “awe inspiring to witness” and said he “almost teared up knowing I was seeing something special.”

The storm caused tree limb damage and destroyed a billboard. A microburst occurs when a thunderstorm and water droplets/hailstones are suspended within an updraft. Credit: Victor Ituarte via Storyful
