A major crowd turned out in al-Hoceima city in east Morocco on May 30, demonstrating for the release of Moroccan activist Nasser Zafzafi.
Zefzafi was arrested after he was said to have interrupted an imam at a local mosque. He was accused of “undermining the security of the state” and other criminal acts. He has been involved in protests that have developed since October 2016, after the death of a local fish vendor in the city.
