Sarah Hyland is responding to critics that believe she's attempting to promote anorexia.
She wrote a poignant message to her fans, where she reveals she's has a "tough year" that has resulted in weight loss from being on bed rest… So, definitely not any pro-ano thing.
Sarah says, "I have been told that I can't work out. Which for me, is very upsetting... I love to be strong. Strength is everything... I am not a fan of 'being skinny.'"
Instead of shying away from specific comments or critiques, Sarah addresses them full on.
The 26-year-old says, "No one's head should be bigger than their body but considering that I've basically been put on bed rest for the past few months, I've lost a lot of muscle mass."
Sarah may address the intricacies of her condition in the future, and Us Magazine reports she underwent a kidney transplant in 2012, but that's the extent of her diagnoses that we know about.
She remains optimistic though, saying, "It’s never fun to look in the mirror and see your hard work in the gym fade away or have your legs be the size of ones arms. But I know when I get clearance I will be able to get back to the strong, lean, and fabulous self I know I can be."
We bet Sarah's fans understand and appreciate her message, and hope she recovers as soon as possible.
