The Syrian army and allied militias captured the military airbase of al-Jarah. in Aleppo province, from Islamic State on May 24, according to the Syrian State News Agency (SANA).

SANA said thousands of Islamic State fighters were injured or killed during military operations near the airbase and in several villages near it. This figure cannot be confirmed.

Opposition local media said that the Syrian army had regained control of a number of towns surroundings the airbase.
