TAMPA, FLORIDA — An 18-year-old former white supremacist is behind bars this week after he admitted to killing his two neo-Nazi roommates because they disrespected Islam — his new faith.

Tampa man Devon Arthurs reported lived with 22-year-old Jeremy Himmelman, 18-year-old Andrew Oneschuk, and 21-year-old Brandon Russell. All reportedly shared neo-Nazi beliefs, until Arthurs converted to Islam.

Last Friday, Arthurs reportedly fatally shot Himmelman and Oneschuk because they were making fun of Islam. Arthurs said he also wanted to stop them from carrying out planned acts of domestic terrorism.

Arthurs then went to a nearby smoke shop, where he held people there hostage, telling them that he had already killed someone. He also reportedly expressed how upset he was about the U.S. bombing “his” muslim countries.

After surrendering to the police, Arthurs took officers back to his apartment, where officers found the bodies of Himmelman and Oneschuk inside. Brandon Russell was reportedly found crying outside the door.

Officers also discovered bomb-making materials in the garage, including fuses and a cooler containing a “white cake-like substance.” Experts later identified the substance as HMTD, an explosive material.

Meanwhile, Russell, a member of a white supremacist group called Atomwaffen — German for “atomic weapons” — was charged with possession of an unregistered destructive device and unlawful storage of explosive material.

Arthurs faces two murder charges and was being held without bail in Hillsborough County Jail.
