The Robert E. Lee Memorial, the last of four Confederate monuments in New Orleans, was removed on Friday, May 19.

Those who support the removal of the statues were gathered to watch and were seen dancing, singing and chanting.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and his administration has been working to remove the four monuments, which include statues of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard and a monument honoring the Battle of Liberty Place, for years. The other three monuments already have been removed.

The other three statues were removed during overnight hours, and protesters were gathered at each as they were removed.
