The No. 4 seed Georgia State earned a run-rule victory in the first round of double elimination play against No. 8 seed UL Monroe at the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship.

The Panthers (31-26), who by virtue of earning the No. 4 seed earned a bye to the double elimination round, advance to face the No. 1 seed UL Lafayette at 10 a.m. CT on Thursday morning. UL Monroe (24-32) will play an elimination game against the losing team from the matchup between No. 3 seed Texas State and No. 6 seed Troy on Wednesday night.
