Former U.S. attorney Preet Bharara, who was also fired by President Trump, defended FBI director James Comey. Following the departure of Comey, Bharara called for a bipartisan investigation into Trump's alleged ties to Russia. "Jim Comey was once my boss and remains my friend...I am proud to know a man who had the courage to say no to a president," Bharara wrote in a Washington Post editorial. Bharara was fired in March, despite being told by Trump that he could remain in his position.
