Floodwaters rose in Quebec on Sunday, May 7 , threatening multiple communities and warranting a state of emergency in Montreal.

This footage shows views around Pierrefonds, which is about 20 miles from Montreal’s city center. Gravestones were greeted by rising floodwaters at the Paroisse Sainte-Genevieve church cemetery on Gouin Boulevard, while other streets in the area are completely covered in water.

Officials in Montreal declared a 48-hour state of emergency on May 7 after three dikes in the northern Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough gave way on Sunday.

As of May 8, more than 146 municipalities across Quebec had been flooded with an estimated 1,500 people evacuated, CTV Montreal reported.
