Highly-touted Peoria Manual guard Da'Monte Williams had a career game against Joliet West in the Pontiac Holiday Tournament semis. One of Illinois' top prospects, the athletic 6'3 junior scored a career high 37 points (including 3 consecutive FTs with 1.2 sec remaining, down 2 to win the game in OT 74-73), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. He shot 15-18 from the line and 10-22 from the field.
Son of former Illinois star Frank Williams, Da'Monte also blocked Joliet West's final shot attempt as the buzzer sounded to send Peoria Manual Rams to the Pontiac finals. Da'Monte went on to be named to the All-Tournament first team. Williams is being recruited by Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Cincinnati and others, but expect that list to grow.
