Heavy rain triggered widespread flooding in the Raleigh, North Carolina, area overnight. The floodwaters began to recede on Tuesday, April 25, but many roads were still closed, WRAL reported.

The Crabtree Valley Mall was closed as the creeks running behind it flooded the area, though some stores started opening in the afternoon, local media said.

Bliss Alexander-Smith, who took this video, said the flooding blocked the main entrance to her neighborhood. Residents had to use an emergency, back entrance through another neighborhood.

As much as eight inches of rain fell in the area since the storms began on Sunday. The rain started clearing by Tuesday afternoon.
