A day before her marriage, a 20 year old girl was murdered by her own mother in northeast Delhi's Seelampur area. It has been said that the mother killed her after she spotted her daughter in a compromising position with the tenant in her room. While the tenant managed to escape, the victim's mother smothered her with a pillow. She told relatives that her daughter had suffered a cardiac arrest. A case was registered and the victim's mother and brother were arrested.
