FRESNO, CALIFORNIA — Police in Fresno are investigating a hate crime after a black gunman killed three white men in a wild shooting spree yesterday.
Suspect Kori Ali Muhammad was already wanted by the cops after he allegedly shot and killed an unarmed Motel 6 security guard last week, the Los Angeles Time reported.
But the homeless 39-year-old was about to embark on an even deadlier frenzy of violence.
On Tuesday morning, the bloodshed began when Muhammad shot and killed a passenger sitting in a utility truck.
Cops said Muhammad wanted to kill as many white people as possible. His next victim was gunned down on a nearby street.
Muhammad’s third victim of the day was then shot and killed in a nearby parking lot. Cops said the gunman fired indiscriminately, discharging 16 rounds in total.
Muhammad’s social media feeds reveal his extreme religious beliefs and hatred for white people.
Like Baton Rouge shooter Gavin Long, the gunman was a follower of a fringe religious movement called the Moorish Science Temple — a kooky black nationalist sect, loosely based on Islam, which believes African-Americans are descended from the Moors of North Africa.
Muhammad described white people as “devils” on social media and quoted some of the racist teachings of the Nation of Islam.
When he was arrested, Muhammad shouted “Allahu Akbar,” — Arabic for “God is the greatest.” However, police are treating the killings as a hate crime and not an act of terrorism.
Muhammad has a substantial criminal record. He was released last year from a long prison sentence for selling cocaine and felony firearms possession.
Court documents show that in 2005, his attorney called for a psychiatric hearing because Muhammad was suffering from hallucinations, paranoia and psychosis.
