POPOW (GER) set a European record of 12.40 seconds when winning the T42
men's 100m. After a mediocre start, the German upper-leg amputee
sprinter got into his stride and edged past Scott REARDON (AUS) 20m
from the line, the latter taking the silver medal just 0.03 behind. "It
was my toughest race ever. I said after Beijing, when I came second,
that the only thing I would like to have now is the gold medal, and I
