Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams on Tuesday, April 18, confirmed the death of Steve Stephens, the suspect in the fatal shooting of the 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 16.

Williams said Stephens was found dead after a brief pursuit in Erie, Pennsylvania, that morning, echoing reports from Pennsylvania State Police.

Video showing Godwin’s death was posted to Facebook on April 16. Also in a Facebook video, Stephens said he had killed 13 people and planned on killing others. However, police said that no other victims had been discovered so far.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Pennsylvania State Police said they received a tip from an “alert citizen” in Erie before locating Stephens in a white Ford Fusion, sparking a pursuit that stretched over about two miles. Police said they attempted a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, making Stephen’s vehicle spin out of control. As it was spinning, Stephens shot himself in the head, police said.
