According to Buddhist legend, Chuchok was an old beggar who fell into some good fortune thanks to a good deed he did in a previous life. Chuchok's story resonates with many Thais and in Thailand arguably the best place to worship him is at a small privately-owned shrine in the suburbs of Bangkok.
The shrine itself is an interesting place to visit but what makes it truly remarkable are the coyote dancers. A few years ago one lottery winner did so well because of Chuchok that he rewarded the beggar with a troupe of scantily clad ladies. Ever since then a phenomenon has developed where people looking for luck visit the shrine to offer the old Brahmin a show.
