KARACHI: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in a hearing on Saturday granted travel permission to Dr. Asim Hussain for medical treatment abroad against surety bond of Rs 2 million, ARY News reported.

The former petroleum minister can leave abroad for 15 days only. However, the court has asked the former petroleum minister to resubmit the passport within 20 days.

He was also reportedly asked to receive his passports from Sindh High Court (SHC).

Earlier this week, he had submitted a plea in the SHC for exclusion of his name from Exit Control List (ECL) to have treatment abroad.

The petition stated that Dr. Asim was suffering from a severe back ailment and kidney pain, hence his name should be removed from the ECL so he could go abroad for medical treatment.

On March 29, Dr. Asim was granted bail in two references filed by NAB over corruption charges.
