What started off as a ban on pan, chewing tobacco and plastics is transforming not just offices but also officials of the Uttar Pradesh government. Thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's strict instructions, offices are up and running on the dot. Gone are the days of laziness, late coming and long breaks in the secretariat. The guards at the secretariat are now turning vehicles away since there is no parking space left. Before 9.30 AM officials are in office carrying out their work. The ministers themselves are setting the standards giving the officials no other option but to follow suit. Officials have been instructed to be in the office by 9.30 AM and leave only after finishing work. Taking officials files home is a strict no-no with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking government servants to brace for 18-20 hour long work hours. Ministers like Upendra Tiwari, Srikant Sharma and Sidharth Nath Singh reach offices before 9.30 AM and their staff follow suit.
