Security forces used tear gas to disperse demonstrators in Caracas, Venezuela, on April 10, in the fourth round of protests in the crisis-hit country in the past 10 days.
This footage, geotagged to the central Caracas neighborhood of El Rosal, shows a crowd fleeing as tear gas bangs are heard in the background.
El Nacional reported that protesters responded to the gas by throwing stones at Bolivarian National Guard forces, while BBC News reported that 18 metro stations and 20 bus routes had been suspended due to the clashes and commotion in the streets.
Protests have been held in Caracas since last week against the Venezuelan Supreme Court’s March 30 decision to strip power from the opposition-controlled National Assembly. The Supreme Court has since withdrawn the ruling, but the move drew criticism and condemnation from Venezuelan opposition politicians and international governments alike.
