Dramatic footage has emerged from Venezuela of violent clashes between protesters and police after authorities blocked an opposition rally against socialist President Nicolas Maduro.

The video, captured on Tuesday in Caracas, shows chaotic scenes of people confronting police officers and escaping from what appears to be pepper spray and water cannons.
