Six Muslim women released a video condemning controversial critic of Islam Ayaan Hirsi Ali ahead of a cancelled Australia and New Zealand tour. The tour was called off amid “security concerns.”
In a video posted to Facebook, the women accused Ali – a Somali woman who said she was a victim of female genital mutilation, and ex-Muslim turned fierce opponent of radical Islam – of profiting from a “global Islamophobia industry” and said she did not speak for them. They said Ali was employing misogynistic language used by “white supremacists” and “oppressors”.
Ali hit back at the women who said they were “carrying water” for radical Islamic organisations such as the Islamic State and Muslim Brotherhood, and claimed they failed to defend women oppressed under Islamic law.
