Commuters evacuated from Saint Petersburg metro after explosion

Footage has emerged purportedly showing commuters evacuating a metro train at Vladimirskaya station in St Petersburg, Russia after an explosion occurred at a nearby station.

The video, shot on Monday, shows commuters leaving the station as they are prompted by an announcement on a loud speaker.

According to the filmer, the announcement was "By the order of the Metropolitan authorities, the Metro is closing," to which the train driver added: "The train is not going to continue its journey, leave all train cars."

According to reports, around ten people were kill by an explosion between Sennaya Ploshchad and Tekhnologichesky Institut stations.

The entire metro network has now been closed and the reason for the explosion is under investigation.
