A cool video has emerged of tourists petting a grey whale and her calf off the coast of in Magdalena Bay, Baja California, Mexico.

The footage, shot last month, captures the extraordinary encounter.

"We very quickly encountered our new found friends and they seemed very happy to hang out with us," the filmer wrote online.

"As you'll see the calf is like a playful puppy, muscling the mother out of the way cos she's getting too much attention and then rolling over to have its belly rubbed."
