Protesters fighting for healthcare filled the corridor outside Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s Washington office on Thursday, March 23.
The House of Representatives were supposed to vote on legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, on Thursday. Due to a lack of votes, the vote had been delayed until Friday morning, possibly longer.
Earlier Thursday, Ryan tweeted, “From skyrocketing premiums to insurance monopolies in counties all across America, the #Obamacare experiment simply has not worked.” The bill to repeal and replace the healthcare act was brought forth on March 6.
In this video, a demonstrator knocks on Ryan’s office door and an employee of Ryan’s greets the crowd. Upon the introduction, a chant is led as police stand by.
